Accessibility and Special Needs
At Bilbao urban transport services we work to guarantee access to our transport service for all people, regardless of their age or ability to move. Our goal is that they can enjoy our services in the same conditions of safety, equality and comfort, with the greatest possible autonomy.
For this reason, all lines, both urban and the tourist bus, are accessible.

The entire fleet of the Bilbao urban transport services is accessible, with the following elements:
- Special places for people with reduced mobility in wheelchairs or scooters. Our buses have 1 or 2 seats, depending on the model.
- Preferential seats for people with reduced mobility, the elderly with mobility problems, pregnant women and people with small children.
- Exterior signage indicative of accessible vehicle.
- External push-button for access request via ramp or platform.
- Ramp or lifting platform, depending on the model.
- Bus kneeling system.
- Internal stop request button.
- Non-slip floor.
- System of bars and handles.
- Marked edges of the steps.
- Visual and sound information of the stops.

Assistance dogs, including support dogs for people with diabetic and epileptic disorders, can ride inside the bus free of charge.
They must sit on the ground at the passenger's feet.
It is mandatory for the dog to carry its leash and all its documentation, especially the one that proves it as such, since it may be required by the Bilbao urban transport services staff at the time of accessing the bus.
- Face-to-face assistance at the Customer Service Office (OAC), which is an accessible facility. It has a magnetic induction loop to facilitate communication with people with hearing disabilities. Address: Licenciado Poza 8. 48008 Bilbao. Hours: Monday to Friday: 7: 30-20: 00. Saturdays: 9: 00-20: 00. Sundays and holidays: 9: 00-14: 00.
- Video-interpretation service in Spanish sign language to facilitate that deaf or hearing-impaired people have the same access to information as the rest of our users. You can access it through the BIOBIDE website or the BILBOBUS website.
- Use of convenience access doors. People with reduced mobility can use the exit door to enter the bus and inside they will use the place reserved for them. In addition, when necessary, people with reduced mobility will be able to exit through the entrance door.
- Approach to the stop. The driver will bring the bus as close as possible to the stop to facilitate getting on and off.
- Priority in boarding and disembarking. People in a wheelchair have priority to get on the bus. At disembarkation, people with reduced mobility will first get off and then the rest of the people at the stop will get on.
- Free for companions of people with reduced mobility. Blind people and those accompanying people with reduced mobility who travel by wheelchair or scooter may travel free of charge.
The staff in contact with users receive specific training to assist people with disabilities.
The services have been designed following the requirements of Universal Accessibility Standards, such as UNE 170001, and are in the process of certification by AENOR.
