Spaces for People with Reduced Mobility in Wheelchairs (PRM in wheelchairs)
As a general rule, our urban and metropolitan Alsa services are accessible to PRM in wheelchairs. These seats do NOT require prior reservation and do not incur any additional cost for the passenger.
To board, you must position yourself at the central door, as this is where the access ramp/platform is located. These doors have an open request button that notifies the driver of your intention to enter the bus in your wheelchair.
The driver will activate the automatic access ramp/platform and, once it is fully in place (when the flashing lights and sounds stop), you will be able to use it to enter the vehicle.
Once inside the vehicle, you must position yourself and your wheelchair in the space for PRM in wheelchairs. Depending on bus model:
It must be able to ascend/descend the lifting platform and be approved for being secured for travel:
- For this reason, the maximum admissible dimensions are 120 cm long x 70 cm wide; and the maximum weight, including the occupant, must not exceed 300 kg.
- In addition, to be able to secure it in place for travel, it must comply with the ISO 7176-19 standard and have a visible sticker or document accrediting this.

In addition, the driver will secure your wheelchair and fit your seatbelt. You can see more details on the boarding process.
It must be able to ascend and descend the ramp:
- For this reason, the maximum admissible dimensions are 120 cm long x 70 cm wide; and the maximum weight, including the occupant, must not exceed 300 kg.
- You must place your wheelchair or scooter in the opposite direction to the direction of travel, resting it against the backrest provided and with the passenger seatbelt in place (if there is one). Here you will find more details on boarding and disembarking.
